Heathside offers an excellent mix of physical, performance and extra-curricular activities, and the opportunity for every student to discover and develop his or her talents.

We are the English Primary Schools Chess Association's National Small School Champion, a title which we have held for the past two years.

We coach a full range of team sports, including football, cricket, rounders, baseball and netball, and play frequent friendlies against other schools. Our physical activity programme also covers swimming, cross-country running, gymnastics, music and movement, karate and yoga.

We have a thriving drama programme that includes six productions a year, including Upper School performances of Shakespeare and major classical and modern plays and musicals.

Music plays a big part in school life: we have a choir, instrumental group, individual instrument lessons and frequent concerts and performances.

Additional in - and after-school clubs include Art, Chess, Film and Photography, Football, Gymnastics, Mad Science, Mandarin and the Student Council.

The school is twinned with a primary school in Soweto: we share life stories and hold regular fundraising events. We also support a nursery in the Cape Flats in Cape Town. Older students participate in an exchange programme with students in the Brittany region of France.

Finally, when it snows, we build snowmen and go tobogganing on Hampstead Heath.
